ROOF helmets and intercoms

You want a ROOF helmet and you wonder if it is compatible with intercoms?

You are wondering which intercom to choose for your ROOF helmet?

Our answer in one sentence:

All ROOF helmets are compatible with intercoms and you can freely choose your communication kit according to your needs and expectations in terms of intercoms (phone, duo talk, gps connection, style...).

Here are some additional details that may be useful to you:

All our helmets are predisposed to be worn with glasses and to accommodate the market’s intercom kits.

Of course as any helmet on the market, we recommend you to try and check the comfort and size in case of very thick glasses frames or a very voluminous intercom kit for example. Depending on the size of the helmet and the morphology of your head, there may be more or less space and you may prefer to change to a larger size or adjust the inner comfort according to your feeling.

BOXXER 2 / BOXXER 2 CARBON

Regarding the BOXXER 2 or BOXXER 2 CARBON (E22-06), please note that they are Intercom Ready

  • Here is the direct link to the video explaining the  intercom mounting on our Boxxer 2 E22-06https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMcIboQuTmY
  • Small tips, the Boxxer 2 also has a specific housing to accommodate the battery of the Sena 10R (because our teams liked its design and ergonomics that combine so well with our helmet). But you can choose the kit of your choice without problem.

Here are some models of intercom that our teams or fans use with our Boxxer, for example
:  Sena 50S, SENA 10R, Cardo Packtalk Slim etc. But many models are on the market and new ones arrive every year, you have to discover them.

BOXXER / BOXXER CARBON

Our BOXXER and BOXXER CARBON E22-05 are also equipped with specific slots to accommodate the earphones of intercom kits.

Tutorial for the assembly: At the bottom of each comfort cheek, you will find a foam mounted on a velcro. This foam can be removed to give more space at the ears and thus position the earphones. We advise you to position the earphones at the top of the shape of " Y " of the jugular to avoid overlaying the earphone. You can even slide the earphone slightly under the calotin, between shell and calotin for even more comfort.

BOXXER V8

For the BOXER V8, here is an example of intercom assembly tutorial:

  • Remove comfort cheeks by pulling on the two pressures located on each side. The earphones can be inserted into the hole provided for the passage of the chin strap. The earphones can be placed in the headphone slot on the comfort cheeks of the BOXER V8.
  • Then slide the chin strap back into the cheek hole and reattach each cheek to the helmet.
  • Then disassemble the comfort inner lining to pass the wires behind it. The cables connecting to the CPU run over the edge of the shell to join the unit which is attached to the outside side of the helmet.

DESMO

Our DESMO are also compatible with intercom kits. At the bottom of the comfort cheeks of DESMO, where the ears are placed, you will find a triangular foam that is fixed by Velcro.

This foam can be removed to accommodate the earphones of the hands-free kit. Each kit is really different from one model to another, so the tutorial may vary a bit.

But here is for example a tutorial to mount the Sena SMH5 kit on a DESMO. This kit with a microphone mounted on rod and not a system to be glued in the chin strap, we advise you to do so:

  • For the ear piece, place them in the middle of the comfort cheeks.
  • To do this, you must peel off the foam from the middle of the cheek, then unclip the cheeks to pass the thread of the oreillette between the calotin and the cheek and make the oreillette come out in the middle of the cheek.
  • You can replace the foam in the middle of the cheek or, if there is not enough room for the ears, remove the foam completely to free space.

RO200 / RO200 CARBON

Our RO200 et RO200 CARBON are also predisposed to receive an intercom.

In general, the earphones can be placed in the intercom recess.

However, depending on the models of headphones and the size of your headset, you can choose to move the headphones down for better comfort: the placement of the headphones is not limited to the area in the outer shell, You can position the earphones lower, behind the comfort cheeks, if you feel the need. The earpiece will be positioned between the comfort cheek and the shock absorber.

ROADSTER

For the ROADSTER, we recommend the same installation recommendations as our modular BOXXER.

It is also advisable to opt for a microphone with a rod and not a microphone to be stuck on the front of the chin strap, since it is a MASK.

Our ROADSTER are equipped with specific slots to accommodate the earphones of intercom kits. At the bottom of each comfort cheek, you will find a foam mounted on a velcro. This foam can be removed to give more space at the ears and thus position the earphones.

We advise you to position the earphones at the top of the shape of " Y " of the jugular to avoid overlaying the earphone. You can even slide the earphone slightly under the calotin, between shell and calotin for even more comfort.

We hope that all these tutorials and explanations will be useful and help you to easily mount your intercoms on your ROOF helmets.

All our teams are available for any further information on this subject.
